Cosmos 'Cherry Chocolate' is an award-winning, breakthrough cultivar of the traditional Chocolate Cosmos (Cosmos atrosanguineus). Developed through traditional breeding, it features velvety, deep cherry-to-wine-red petals with a distinct rich, cocoa-like aroma and larger blooms.
Key Features
Bloom Time: Flowers continuously from early summer through the first frost (up to 5 months).
Appearance: Larger flower heads (up to 3 inches across) that are more compact and less leggy than older heirloom varieties.
Fragrance: Releases a noticeable, sweet chocolate-cherry perfume in warm temperatures.
Growing Tips
Light: Requires full sun to achieve its best color and strongest chocolate scent.
Soil: Plant in moderately fertile, rich, and well-drained soil.
Hardiness: It is a tender perennial. It can survive mild winters but requires heavy mulching in cold regions, or its tubers can be lifted and stored indoors before the first frost.
