A hardy North American Native selection that is very easy to grow, the Red Swamp Hibiscus, also known as the Texas Star, is adored by folks and hummingbirds and butterflies alike for its large, star-shape crimson-red flowers with prominent central staminal columns that appear in abundance beginning in early to mid-summer and continue through early fall. Large plants 6 to 8 feet tall and 5 feet wide are clothed in deep green, palm-like leaves. Will grow in most any soil but thrives best in "swampy" conditions.
